Vatican II the Vision Lives On

In this special 20th anniversary Catholic Update Foley sketches the happenings of the Second Vatican Council and the thrust and impact of its primary documents. He looks at the ferment in the Church that led up to the Council, the prophetic call for renewal of Pope John XXIII and a brief outline of the Council sessions. Foley asks, ""What did the Council achieve?"" and gives succinct answers in the areas of liturgy, lay ministry, ecumenism, religious life and collegiality. He concludes with reflections on the key Council document: The Dogmatic Constitution on the Church. The vision of the Council and the work of the Spirit continues: ""God works in seconds--and centuries. Perhaps the full impact of the Council is yet to come. Perhaps Vatican II is not yet out of its baby clothes.""
