Fr Karl Josef Wallner, OCist, was born in Wampersdorf, Austria. He has lived at the Cistercian Abbey in Austria since 1982. He became a priest in 1988 and has performed a variety of pastoral duties in the Archdiocese of Vienna, including pastor, professor and youth minister. He received his doctorate from the University of Vienna in 1992. Since 2007, he has been rector of the Holy Cross College Benedict XVI in Vienna.
