Companions on the Journey

The journey into the Catholic Church cannot be traveled alone. The rite of Christian Initiation is a human experience of welcoming and being welcomed, of revealing and being revealed, of supporting and being supported, of joining and incorporating. While the entire Church community welcomes its new members, there is a real need for personal guides and companions, what the Church calls sponsors.

Companions on the Journey focuses on the welcoming, sharing, and supportive aspects of RCIA between sponsor and catechumen or candidate, aspects that are especially important in the inquiry or pre-catechumenate period of the RCIA faith journey.
