A Company of Women

Journeys Through the Feminine Experience of Faith
Edited by Irene Mahoney, OSU
Read More Read Less

In the summer of 1994, a diverse group of women--lawyers, teachers, administrators, archivists, and missionaries--gathered to openly discuss their lives, loves, losses, and faith in the hope of garnering personal sustenance and universal insight. Although they represented a broad spectrum in terms of geography, age, and personal history, they shared a universal thread in the spiritual fabric of contemporary women's experiences.

From that "company of women" is born this rare compilation of spiritual biographies of ordinary women who followed a quiet call to live a life of uncommon faith. These women's stories--from their families of origin to the difficult and rewarding challenges they face today--are our own stories of life, faith, and love.

A Company of Women bespeaks the untold yet striking contributions of Everywoman who often labors in the shadows unheralded--and sometime misunderstood--but whose indomitable spirit has been a major force in our society and church.
